Description

On November 13, 2016, about 10:30, I heard the anguished cry of a bird in distress. About 11:30, a sharp-shinned hawk unsuccessfully attached the birds at my feeder and perched in a nearby tree. I took his picture without noticing his injury. That evening, while processing the photo, I saw that the bird was hurt and contacted our local rehabber at Hatteras Island Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Lou Browning joined me the next morning (November 14) but we did not find the bird. We will continue to look for it.
