We first spotted this female Painted Bunting 3 years ago and she was instrumental in getting us into bird watching on more than a casual basis. She was and still is the only banded bird we have seen our yard in the last 5 years. This picture was taken during the last season she was with us. She had lost her left foot and one of the bands on that leg. She still has a pink band on her left leg but it is very hard to see in this photo. We were able to get quite a few photos of her before the season ended. We did find out from her bands that she was about 6-7 years old when this photo was taken which would have made her a senior citizen.
