Description

This photo was taken during a very cold mid December day (-25C) in the Canadian prairies where we frequently see Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers throughout the winter. It is not often though that we see a wintering flock of American Goldfinches. These birds had been spending time at the niger and sunflower seed feeders for a week or two before we captured this image that includes a woodpecker that was watching them as we were.
