Each Fall at the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Refuge in northern Indiana, 1000’s of Sand Hill Cranes gather on their way south. While there, each morning the birds fly out to the fields nearby for feeding and return at sunset. That’s why I called this the “morning commute” since I took the photo at sunrise as the birds were flying out. It is quite a sight to watch the 1000’s of cranes gather in the open grassland of the refuge each morning and evening as they prepare to leave and return just like us driving to work and back home each day!
