As a snowstorm was finishing up, some Mourning Doves staked a claim on the fresh water in my birdbath. They seemed to enjoy hanging around the birdbath and showed no signs of being about to leave. A Northern Cardinal watched wistfully from the nearby rose but decided not to join the doves – probably a wise decision, those doves can get territorial.
