Description

I’ve seen a lot of unusual birds in Florida (I’m from Illinois), but when this Northern Gannet showed up on the beach right in front of a condo, it generated a lot of interest and concern. It appeared healthy, but didn’t seem to want to budge from it’s spot. Several bystanders tried feeding it some small fish, but it wasn’t interested. Finally, after several hours of resting, it flew off. What was so encouraging was that so many people were interested and willing to sit and protect the bird from any harm.
