Description

We have been feeding birds since the 1980’s and cardinals never stayed more than six months until now. The current pair have been here for over 20 months. We have seen their young this year and last year for a total of 6 juveniles. This year was special as the juveniles stayed for many weeks after they appeared. We saw many things this year with the cardinals that we had not seen before. We saw the male courting the female. We saw the male eating suet and carrying some off, perhaps to feed the young. And as this picture shows, the cardinals are eating bread. We also saw the male catching and eating white moths.
