Description

Overnight freezing rain and morning ice fog left a thick frosty coating on each leaf, branch, and frond. The contrast of a male cardinal perched against the frosty backdrop made for a number of very good photos. It was not until I reviewed the photos later that I realized the cardinal had spread his wings quickly in one of the shots. The next shot, half a second later, and he is back to sitting sedately.
