Description

I leave hummingbird feeders out year-round. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds migrate here in the spring and fall. They are also here in the summer and some stay and breed. In late fall and winter other species of migrating hummingbirds arrive. I was surprised and excited to see this female Ruby-throated at one of the feeders last month. It’s the first time I had seen one overwinter here. After leaving the feeder, she flew to one of the oleanders in my yard and struck a graceful pose.
