Though not as colorful as their male counter parts, female Purple Finches are just as striking in physical appearance. This female finch had stopped in for a drink shortly after feeding which allowed me the perfect opportunity to display her wonderfully detailed breast notches along with her powerful, seed-crushing, conical bill. This particular female’s markings were quite loud and very distinctive. I am honored to show her off.
