Description

I study the breeding ecology of Carolina Chickadees in the Washington D.C. area. When I visited this nest to check it’s status, I found six recently fledged young begging in the maple and oak trees around the box and the adults feeding them feverishly. I was fortunate to capture this pair posing nicely before the adult fed it and took off to find more insects. I just love the way the fledgling is looking up as if to say ‘my turn!’.
