Description

On a recent winter day, I captured this male Northern Cardinal feasting on the berries of a deciduous holly in our yard. This is a native shrub that attracts a variety of birds. I have seen Northern Mockingbirds, White-throated Sparrows, a Cape May Warbler as well as Cardinals eating these berries. I really like the way the bright color of the berries contrasts with the different shades of red in this birds lovely feathers.
