Description

This photo was taken on a very cold (January) day last week. I get dozens and dozens of house finches and American goldfinches but have never had the purple finches visit my feeder. This male sat on the branches of a crape myrtle near my dining room window and waited patiently while I grabbed my camera and took a few shots. I was so cheered up by his raspberry wash that brought much needed color to a very gray day.
