Description

This is one of perhaps two dozen Townsend’s Solitaires that dropped by every afternoon at a remote mountain spring in the northern Sierra Nevada in CA for a drink. The drought eliminated most other water sources, so the spring was a good place to see them. They were very wary but I got a few shots of this one before it dropped down to the spring for a drink. The birds feed on juniper berries in the surrounding mixed conifer forest. Fall, 2014.
