Description

Two male Greater Prairie Chickens fight for a place in the lek and for the right to court females. Displays and fights like this usually take place near dawn in the early spring and are accompanied by ‘booming’–an amazing vocalization made by the males by inflating their orange air sacs and then forcing the air out. The sound carries for miles.
