One day I was out photographing in my backyard when I noticed two immature male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds fighting near the feeders. I had seen hummingbirds fight in midair before, but hadn’t seen them go to the ground with one pinned under the other like these two. Luckily, they both eventually flew away uninjured.
Week 15: The Unexpected
Wow now THAT is unexpected! Hummingbird really are aerial fighters, so you were lucky to witness and capture the moment they fought on the ground. Very cool and unique image!
