Description

This week, I decided to go with a ‘different’ kind of photo.

A wild close-up of one of one of North America’s fiercest, most violent aerial predators of the night… if you’re a mouse, that is!

This precious little owl was captured in one of our mist nets at the Hilliardton Marsh Research and Education Center one night. Once she was safely untangled, measured, weighed, and fitted with a little aluminum band, she was ready to go – but with such a picture-perfect expression on her face, I couldn’t resist a quick photo before releasing her back into the night to resume terrorizing the rodents scurrying about in the woods.

Always been one of my favorites!

I love your close-up! Those big yellow eyes are so curious, as the owl looks at me. Very cute.
