Description

This Red-Tail Hawk was sitting on a guard rail as we came down the road. We pulled off and as I was taking pictures when this hawk decided that we weren’t welcome. At first he just sat there, then puffed he’s feathers out and raised both wings to look larger than normal. He sat there like this for a minute or two before turning around and taking off down through the woods following the stream. There was still blood on it’s beak and chest, obviously showing he had recently captured some kind of prey. It was an amazing moment to be that close to this magnificent bird.
