Description

Ruffed Grouse may be ground dwellers, but this one was perfectly happy perched high up in a tree surveying the landscape. This was one of many lifer birds for me last May when I attended a Spring Migration birding photography workshop in the Tawas State Park area on Michigan’s Lake Huron shore. This bird was in seen in the park not far from the campgrounds. The texture in his feathers is amazing and would camouflage him perfectly when he is on the ground.
