I know we all love the little chickadees for their cuteness, cheerfulness, and courage in facing our difficult winters with us. I also admire them so much for their resourcefulness. My feeders are always full of sunflower seeds, peanuts, bark butter and suet, but my Black-capped Chickadees still forage regularly for ‘natural’ food, in this case the seed of the Staghorn Sumac. Then again, maybe she is just decorating for Christmas?
