These two male Northern Flickers spent over an hour posturing for rights to the suet feeders in the yard, putting on quite a show. The male on the left is a Yellow Shafted while the male on the right appears to be an integrade as it has a red mustache as well as the red crescent on nape.
Category 5: Sweet for Suet
Two male Northern Flicker's dispute over who has first right to the suet feeders...there appeared to be acting "Silly for Suet".
Wow, a rare occurrence to be caught on camera as these birds are typically quite shy. Great picture!
