This Gray Catbird suddenly showed up in the yard when we started feeding live mealworms to the nesting Bluebirds. He would soon recognize my call and swooped in whenever food was served. Soon, the Bluebirds noticed there was a rival at the table, and gave their best to shoo him away. But he successfully grabbed a couple of beaks full for a while. Eventually, the Bluebirds won and he moved on. I loved watching this sneaky, cocky, beautiful bird that I had never seen before. I hope he comes back next year.
