Description

This little Common Tern chck had just gotten a sand eel when it’s bigger sibling decided it wanted the eel for itself. An all-out brawl ensued. Here, the yourger chick has temorarily evaded the older chick and is literally eating on the run. In the end, the smaller chick prevailed and enjoyed it’s hard-fought meal.

What a great expression of triumph for the smaller one as it runs ahead! The empty handed tern has the look of ‘Wait for me..We share, right?’
Thanks!

Thank you, Lorraine! The larger chick was quite expressive throughout the photos.

I like his look in this one, as well. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/common-tern-chicks-1-mike-timmons.html

Yes, Mike…the larger chick has it’s ‘wings on the hips’ as if to say “well I’ll be @#@$, the little one beat me to it!”
What a hoot…really love these photos…how can anyone not enjoy nature? Glad I looked through again to find your extra photo!
Thanks!
