Description

To me, great egrets are perhaps the most beautiful of birds; their grace is comparable to that of a dancer: their plumage is ever elegant and seems to be made of satin. When the sunlight shines through their feathers, it seems as though they are illuminated like a snow covered meadow on a bright winter morning. This picture was taken at Middleton Place Gardens, Charleston, South Carolina.
