Description

This is one of two female Orioles that made daily visits to my yard this past summer. I had a traditional Oriole nectar feeder and started the season with a fancy grape jelly feeder but the females preferred the bunches of grapes that I hung in spots where they could land and munch. The males were a bit more shy. I would hear them singing from a nearby tree and saw them fly through a couple of times but never caught them eating. I was, however, surprised to see the Cardinals and Robins also enjoying the grapes.

Nice picture of a female oriole feasting…males usually get all the shots…

Theresa Nickels says:

Thank you, Lorraine!

Paula says:

Great idea about hanging the bunches of grapes. A lot neater to maintain, I would imagine.

Theresa Nickels says:

Thank You, Cristina!

Theresa Nickels says:

Yes, Paula, it is easier to maintain than the grape jam!

Cristina Hartshorn says:

I love both the photo and the idea! I will be sure to try it out next spring.
