Description

This black-headed grosbeak was among a busy group of birds visiting one of the feeders in our neighborhood in Southern New Mexico. The high elevation (7,500 feet) and substantial forest cover in our area brings a wide variety of birds, from grosbeaks to Steller’s jays to nuthatches and even Eurasian collared doves.

My Turn?

A black-headed grosbeak waits for another turn at the feeder before heading back for a second helping. The busy feeder attracted a steady stream of birds after a thunderstorm in a forested neighborhood near Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
