The red-bellied(rb) woodpecker was suet feeding when several starlings ‘clawed’ up to the site. The rb scared off the others but this one stayed for the challenge. Wish I could show the successive pictures; the rb poked him right in the head. This was followed by a ‘stare down’ and lots of posturing; finally the starling backed down.
