Up until this photo was taken, I had never seen this Northern cardinal pair close enough that I could photograph them together in the same frame. When one is on the feeder, the other is usually on the look-out elsewhere. So I was thrilled to witness the male approaching the feeder just as his partner was exiting to a nearby fence post.
