Description

The red-headed woodpecker is medium-sized woodpecker from temperate North America. The breed enjoys wooded areas and can be found throughout the central United States and Canada. It is rated as near threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Red List of Endangered species.

The red-bellied woodpecker also has its most prominent red part of its plumage on the head, with bold black and white feathers on its back and stomach making this woodpecker very different than other birds.
