The beautyberry plant hosted a lot of birds this fall/migration time. Besides the migrant birds, the regular birds also feasted upon the berries. This male cardinal is getting is “berry-best” red coat now for the winter and was enjoying the berries. I love the tail patterns on this bird, as it was perched higher up, gave me a good angle to get all the details. Shades of fall can be seen in the backdrop which helped in enhancing the red tones of the male cardinal. These are the state bird of North Carolina and are always a delight to watch for.
