Description

While we were watching a solo alligator at a small pond at Johns Island County Park, we heard a strange sound and were treated to this amazing display of the bluish/gray feathers of the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron. His fancy mating dance was successful in attracting a mate (who could resist?) and we got to watch the female sit on the nest, hatch the eggs, and raise the chicks.
