Description

Phragmites plants next to our summer cottage partially block our water view, but we leave them because they serve so many purposes for the native birds. They use the tassels for nesting material in the spring, ride the flexible stalks in the wind, and, like this ordinary house sparrow, take advantage of a majestic seaside perch.
