The San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary is a 300 acre freshwater wetland in the middle of an urban city in busy Orange County, CA. It is a great place for photographers to get close to waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors and more. This Red-shouldered Hawk was perched near shallow Pond E, and then dove screaming down towards the shorebirds which scattered in all directions. The raptor missed its meal but I captured the photo!
