How often does one get to see a Snowy Owl in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia? A couple years ago, I had been following sightings of Snowy Owls in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia for months and traveling hundreds of miles in the hopes of seeing one. I had had no luck and was accepting the fact that it wasn’t meant to be when I saw a post of a Snowy Owl on a farm in Jefferson County, WV – just 10 miles from my home! So, even though I was sick with the flu and a sinus infection, I dragged myself out of bed because I could not miss out on the opportunity to see this gorgeous bird that practically fell into my lap after so many months of chasing sightings without any luck. This will always be my favorite memory!
