This northern flicker visited my backyard around 3:00pm as the afternoon sun shone perfectly on our large oak tree. His mate was close by and was busy preening herself behind a branch. I thought the lighting was perfect as a little shadow from a branch provided contrast across his chest. No post editing was done except for a little cropping to show more detail.
