The great blue heron wings are 5-6ft across. In -flight and when in resting , its difficult to gauge the size of these wings. I happened to be one day watching a great blue and an great egret behaviour and this heron didnt like the egret taking its spot. It tried to land in the the very shallow waters which gave me a clear wing size frame of this beautiful wader.
