Description

In winter I have 1 pair of Varied Thrush, my personal favorite. They are ground feeders and very skittish so good photos are hard to get, especially of the female, whom I see only about 1/4 as often as the male. The snow, however, brought them from the mountain to my feeders in droves! I’d say I had about 30 of them, fighting over the (plentiful) food. The female is not as vibrant as the male but the subtle shades of brown make her a favorite subject.
