Description

This was the cherry on my cupcake of a great yard birding day – saw some new migrating birds in the yard that early spring morning and just when I thought it couldn’t any better this lemony orange popsicle flew into my crabapple tree in the afternoon to eye the oranges and jelly. An unusual sighting for Northern Illinois, this immature male Summer Tanager didn’t stick around long enough to try them out, but I did manage to get this photo before he bid me farewell.
