This male Phainopepla and his mate drop into our yard now and then, they never stay very long and usually only for water, so is tough to get a good natural-looking photo. We can hear their soft calls as our desert landscape yard is only about 50 yards from their favorite tree in a natural desert common area but usually they are out of camera range.
