Splish splash…owls in the bath?!! Congratulations to the BirdSpotter People’s Choice winner Leisa Chasse of Glenwood, Florida. She was lucky to photograph these two young Barred Owls investigating her backyard birdbath!
All birds like a nice bath, and thankfully Leisa was able to catch this pair of unusual visitors. She shared, “We had been seeing them in the trees together and there was a third one as well. Our security motion camera picked them up, so I ran to get my camera. I was blessed that they remained there for at least five minutes allowing me to get some awesome pictures.”
Birdbaths are a great way to draw a diversity of birds to your yard. Even in winter months birds will happily take a dip. Providing warm water or installing a heated bath is good way to take off the winter chill.
Monday, December 4, is the first day to submit a photo to the BirdSpotter category Fruit & Nectar Feeders: What birds enjoy the sweeter side of life? Biweekly People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice winners receive prizes from the Cornell Lab and our sponsor, Wild Birds Unlimited. Anyone can participate by entering a photo and voting for their favorites! Find out more about the BirdSpotter contest.
