| Brown Thrasher by Sujata Roy |
Congratulations to our BirdSpotter Judges’ Choice winner, Sujata Roy, for this up-close and personal photo of a Brown Thrasher! Sujata says
The background story behind this image is: during winter months and also during summer breeding times, I have observed brown thrashers coming to the suet feeders and filling up. Since they are bigger birds, their bite size is also big. They finish up fast. During winter time, I try to mush some of the suet and stuff it in the log crevices , so that these bigger birds can eat easily and fly off. I have seen they have tough time balancing themselves on the wire mesh suet feeders. During summer time, I have seen the parent thrasher feeding the younger ones suet. Other times of the year, they are less around the yard.
