| Black-capped Chickadee by Karen Gallo |
Congratulations to our second BirdSpotter People’s Choice winner, Karen Gallo of Waterford, CT, for this cheery photo of a Black-capped Chickadee! Karen titled her photo “Rudolph the Red-nosed Chickadee.” She describes her experience below:
I was out with my camera at one of our beautiful state parks in Connecticut actually searching for the American Tree Sparrows I had heard were in the area. I did find and photograph them, but I also came upon a small flock of Black-capped Chickadees who were foraging in a brushy, reedy area that was also filled with multiflora rose hips. I happened to catch this little one when it perched with the rose hip in its beak giving me this perfectly adorable pose.
