7:30 a.m. minus 10 celcius. I spent some time online trying to identify this bird as I’ve never seen his kind before. He is a first time visitor to my backyard feeders.

Male Varied Thrush is new to the neighbourhood.

We usually see a few in the yard here in Lynden during fall/winter. In fact we saw our first this year just last weekend. They are always feeding on the ground, never up on the feeder. I’ve heard them called Mountain Robins.
