Just before dinner, this hawk appeared, and just as I, was about to enter it on Feederwatch, when I, noticed that last week I, had started to look at possible nest sites.. and took a picture which I, named “The Black Hole“.

A very sharp hawk,, I noticed a red stain on its breast, and was worried. was it wounded?, or had it recently made a victim?.. Survival,, is ..more.. Alot more..

Great catch Andree. IMO, this hawk appears very healthy, I believe, he just finished dinner & did not have the time to clean up.
Thanks Aleene,, but, he came back this morning, and took a Mourning dove.
I, still, have difficulty with the identification,, Sharp-shinned or Cooper’s hawk,, and the more I, look at different sources.. the more confusing..
This might be a Coopers, take notice of the tail, the feathers are in sort of graduated layers & it appears he might be wearing a cap.
