I found a way to keep rats & raccoons from climbing the pole to steal seeds or ?,. Take a one pint plastic milk bottle or something simular, cut it up one side, cut a opening on the bottom of the jug so it will go around the pole & put it onto the pole above the ground & tape it by the mouth to the pole. They can’t climb beyond the jug.

The raccoon climbed right over a large squirrel guard and bent a shephard’s hook to the ground.
