Description

Nothing is more satisfying to a photographer than having a bird, whose rare visits have made capturing its image extremely difficult, begin to show up at his feeder as regularly as clockwork. For years, I have gotten only a very few photos of a Pileated Woodpecker, and then, this year, a female Pileated has been using one of my suet feeders every day, so, I’ve been ready for her appearances and have been getting nice shots of the bird. But, we are greedy creatures, so now what I find myself thinking is, ‘Okay, I’ve gotten the female…now, darn it, why doesn’t a male show up!? And…the Tufted Titmouse decided that the snow-blocked top to my rain gauge was a cozy spot to rest for a moment.
