Description

I’ve seen Green Heron’s at our pond before, but, at 200 feet away, getting a decent photo was impossible. I saw this one and decided to try to get closer. I threw a camouflage cloth over myself and walked slowly toward the pond, keeping a tree between myself and the bird, until I got as close as I could possibly get without spooking the heron. When I got close the bird could certainly see me, and I don’t know what it thought of this “pile of leaves that moved,” but at least what it saw wasn’t human, so it didn’t fly off. I only wish that it had not been a darkly overcast day, so that I could have taken higher quality photos.
