Description

As happened in 2013, I once again had a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks nest in a tall tree just behind my yard. The nest is so high that my view is pretty much blocked, so I had little chance to see anything more than the comings and goings of the adults, even after their eggs had hatched. Once the nestlings began to grow I would occasionally see them on the edge of the nest, or on the branches just outside the nest. The two siblings eventually fledged and left the nest, but continued to stay in its immediate vicinity until the adults finally stopped returning to feed them. Still, the newly-fledged juveniles stayed around my yard for several weeks, and I was able to get a few shots when I spotted them.

Just experienced the same thing – almost exactly. June 2018. Middle TN.

This is a gorgeous photograph 🙏

I watched a couple fledglings take their first flight about two years ago. Seems that family likes our area 😃 Wish I had a good camera back then.
