Description

I hadn’t seen any Pileateds for weeks, and was set up to try and capture the Downies and Red-bellies that were regular visitors to my suet cake, when this nice male Pileated arrived as though he were ordered.

Beautiful! I tried putting out suet feeders, but no takers…………..an occasional sparrow but that was about it!

I had suet feeders up for several years before I had my first visit by a Pileated Woodpecker. After that I would get only a rare visit. Now, 8 years from the time I moved here, the Pileateds have finally become regulars at my feeders, and sometimes they go through suet cakes so quickly that I wish they’d visit a little less frequently!!
