Description

During mid February to early March, we had a number of Northern Shovelers visit several of our area
ponds. Over this period I was able to get a number of shots at close range but this one quickly became a favorite. Unlike Mallards, Shovelers tend to be very wary and shy; I am still amazed that they tolerated
my presence in such close proximity. It is ironic that this shot was captured on St. Valentine’s day (February 14th).
